Hillcreek Yarn Shoppe is a local yarn shop in Columbia, MO. It has been owned by Karen Cox for about 3 years now. We have a handful of employees with various backgrounds. Carrie Heyn is the manager and was a massage therapist before that. Carol Baskett was a nurse; Rebecca Benson is a graduate student, studying the classic languages; Amber Gorrell is our youngest at only 17, she is an accomplished seamstress. We are also happy to announce our newest member of the Hillcreek family, Lauren Fath. She is also a graduate student, studying literature.

We would love for you to come in and let us get to know you a little bit better!

  1. I am making a vest called Amanda out of the pattern book by Westminster Fibers called Weekend. The pattern calls for using Butterfly Cotton by I am substituting the corn yarn. I am wanting to try the corn yarn and see if it will live up to its hype. The claims were impressive. The yarn is not suppose to stretch out, shrink up, or fade. It is knitting up beutifully and has a wonderful hand. I will let you know how it wears. I don’t thinkl I will gold in the contest though. I am only on the second repeat of the lace pattern, so I had better get back to knitting.
